The research on the power of mentorship is pretty clear: People with mentors perform better, advance in their careers faster, and even experience more work-life satisfaction. And mentors benefit, too. After all, “to teach is to learn twice.” Despite all these benefits, and even though 76% of working professionals believe that a mentor is important to growth, more than 54% do not have such a relationship. Effective mentoring requires more than common sense. Research indicates that mentors and mentees who develop and manage successful mentoring partnerships demonstrate a number of specific, identifiable skills that enable learning and change to take place. This strategy booklet describes these skills and provides a tool for you to assess yourself informally on each skill. You can find a mentor in SkillPal. The mentors will send personalized messages to you. For years, individuals assumed that the process of mentoring was somewhat mysterious. These relationships just happened, and “chemistry” had to be present. It was impossible (even somewhat sacrilegious) to analyze and describe the specifics of what was going on in these arrangements. Analyzing and putting names to behaviours would theoretically kill them. Some people were able to find mentoring relationships, while many individuals were unaware of how to get started with mentoring and missed out on one of the most powerful development strategies ever devised. At SkillPal mentors will come to help you and easily you can set your life goals. If you are thinking about music or a new startup, you can find perfect mentors at SkillPal.

Define your goals and specific needs to a SkillPal Mentor. Get out a pen and paper, and write out your career goals. Make sure they are SMART. Then, list out some of the biggest obstacles to achieving them. This specificity will help you decide what type of mentor you should be looking for. Maybe you need to develop new skills, expand your network in a specific sector, or build confidence to have some tough conversations. By first understanding where you want to be, as well as the biggest opportunities and gaps to getting there, you’ll identify how a mentor can truly be helpful to you. Additional research by The Mentoring Group revealed that unless a fairly structured process and specific skills are applied, mediocre mentoring relationships occur. Not much happens, and participants become frustrated with their well-intended but haphazard efforts. Worse, disappointed participants become convinced that mentoring doesn’t work. On the positive side, when individuals use these skills and add structure, important, satisfying changes take place in the lives of both mentees and mentors. A skill is a learned, observable behaviour you perform that indicates (to someone else) how well you can do something. The set of skills described here constitutes your overall ability to mentor and be mentored. If you are with SkillPal you can get lifetime mentors and coaches, who can tell you what to do and how to earn. The process is to provide a personalized video message. After college, the passion and wisdom gripped students that they should turn up in different fields. But the problem is students can’t make it in their ways. Here they need a mentor who can suggest to them what to do and how to do. If anyone needs to make a career plan he or she should join SkillPal for personalized video chat with a solid mentor. Someone wanted to be a guitarist or someone wanted to be a musician. In many cases, parents will say that it may not be a line of success in career. But the passion meets wisdom here. If they got an industry expert mentor or a coach then they can be a milestone in their field. SkillPal is here to provide industry expert mentors who can lead anybody.

Write the “job description” of your ideal SkillPal Mentor. Equipped with your goals and what you need to help achieve them, think through how a mentor can help. Write out the type of mentor that can help you seize your biggest opportunities and/or navigate your challenges. Be specific here. Perhaps you need someone that can help you accomplish a project, make introductions to people at a certain level within a specific industry, or coach you through a tough negotiation. In your job description, make sure to also include the “why” — just like companies want potential hires to understand the bigger purpose of their firm, explain why mentoring you will tap into something bigger. Make sure you include this job description when you reach out to potential mentors, so they know why you’re asking for a mentor and are more willing to help! If you possess these skills to an adequate quality level — and if you use them as frequently as called for — your chances of having mutually satisfying and productive mentoring relationships will be greatly enhanced. The model on the next page illustrates the shared core skills used by both mentors and mentees and the unique skills needed by each group. To help you be a more skilled mentor and mentee, look at the model, review the descriptions of these mentoring skills and the behaviours that make up each one, and start using the skills with the people in your life. A mentor of SkillPal can help you advance within your field and connect you with opportunities that you might not have otherwise had access to. They do this by sharing their knowledge, helping you identify opportunities in your path, and potentially opening doors for you when the time comes. Almost every great achiever in history has claimed that they had a great mentor at some point during their rise to excellence. A mentorship is a valuable tool for turning one’s vision into reality. Mentorship is very important in education technology and SkillPal is the best to serve. SkillPal is a platform where students can learn from experts, who are there in the industry for a long time. Students and curious people who are dealing with a lack of confidence and knowledge can ask the experts via SkillPal. Many guys who do not have proper education but want to gather proper knowledge can use this platform of SkillPal.
